Teacher Man by Frank McCourt

Hello. My name is Kahori. I’m a senior taking grade3.

I read Teacher Man in this class. This book is an autobiography written by Frank McCourt who is a famous writer in the U.S. He was born in New York, in 1930, but went to Ireland when he was four years old. He had a tough, poor miserable childhood there, because his father didn’t work and drunk a lot. Frank became very sick and almost died. (Teacher Man, vii) When he was nineteen years old, McCourt came back to America. He graduated from New York University and became a teacher. This book describes his teaching careers in the U.S.

I like his way of life. He said ‘‘A job is death without self-respect.’’ in this book. He liked teaching, but sometimes it didn’t go well and also his wife disagreed with his job. However, he didn’t quit and tried to his best! I was job-hunting until recently, but decided a company that I will enter. When I was job-hunting, I searched a job that makes the best of my ability. I have a little anxiety of my future. However, I want to remember his experiences if I'm troubled with my job in the future.

Hi Kahori. This is Yuri. He had some troubles in his life. I like his way of life, too. I haven't started job hunting, but I am thinking about my job in the future. As you said, if I have some trouble with my job or job hunting, I will remember his experiences.
