Kind of Pasta!

Hello everyone. This is Miharu Ichimura from EDC3.
In this discussion class, we talked about some books. I enjoy talking with group member about them, but we will finish the last book in this term. I like the book which is “Evening class”. Our presentation group chose this book and we will search about Italian pasta and Japanese pasta. Today I will tell you many kind of pasta. There are so many kinds. Thick and thin, and there are also color, green. Shape is variety. We can use many kinds of pasta by cooking.
In Italy, there are about 650 kinds of pasta and now, kind of pastas are still increasing. We can divide 2 groups of pasta, “long pasta” and “short pasta”. Long pastas are for example, spaghetti, capellini, and limguine. Short pastas are for example, maccherone, penne, and gasse. Of course there is other type of pasta. Gnocchi is one of the examples of them. It is interesting to use these pasta depends on cooking.

Three Branches of US Government

Hello, Everyone. This is Yumika from EDC3.
Our group will give you a presentation about "Three Branches of US Government".
US government has three branches;Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Judicial Branch.
The President of The United States is a administer of Executive Branch. Legislative Branch is made up of Congress. This congress is divided into two parts; Senate and House of Representatives. Judicial Branch is made up of the court system. Supreme court is the highest court of the United States.
My Part is Judicial Branch, so I would like to introduce about Supreme court more specifically.
In "The Pelican Brief", 2 justice were killed and the 2 justices are the justice of Supreme court.
In this story, The President of United States has something to do with this murder case. I think it has some relation with the system that Supreme court 's justice are selected by The President. These days, The President of United states, Obama has named Hispanic woman as a supreme court's justice.

Supreme court are made up of 9 justices, and one out of nine were called Chief justice.
Their job is important and life time job. Supreme court is the highest court in United states, so there are lots of lower court below the Supreme Court.

Irish Culture

Hello everyone! I'm Miori RYU.

Our group decided our topic of presentation now. We picked up Irish culture as our main topic from 'Evening Class' and 'Teacher Man'. Do you remember both of these books include cultural things about Ireland?
In ‘Teacher Man’, the main character Mr. McCourt is Irish and he often compares American life or teenagers with Irish ones. However, we don’t know about Ireland so much and we don’t see Irish cultural things in Japan. Therefore, we want to know about Irish culture more.
For example, we researched about Irish pubs and Natsumi told us about them below my brog. Irish pubs are good traditional thing to know Ireland for us, but, unfortunately few Irish pubs in Japan and no Irish pubs in Hamamatsu. We don’t have enough chances to know Iris culture.
HOWEVER! It’s OK because we’ll teach you about Ireland on our presentation!

Irish pubs

Hello, every one. My name is Natsumi ITO at EDC3. I enjoyed reading all 3 books. Each book has much cultural information. Especially, I am interested in Irish Culture through "Evening Class" and”Teacher Man". There are Irish characters in these 2 books. So I researched about Irish culture and I had interests in Irish pubs. Irish pubs are one of the most Irish cultures. It is very different between British pubs. There is much wood furniture in the Irish pubs. Irish pubs are always full of Irish music and people in the pub are so friendly. Stout, dark beer, is popular beer in Irish pubs. Stout is bitter taste than the other beers. Some people say it feel similar to coffee and chocolate. Guiness is the most famous and popular Stout in the world. Of course you can enjoy Guiness in the Irish pubs. I will research more about Irish pubs and tell you in the presentation. Please look forward to group5 presentation. Thank you.

Italian food

Hello everyone! this is Tomomi from EDC3!
I enjoy sharing ideas or chatting in the class every week. Now we almost finish reading 3 books in one term, that is amazing!!
I like the book "Evening class" the best because I am interested in other cultures.
This story contains many cultures of Italy. Especially I got interested in Italian food so I searched about it, and I want to share it with you guys!! Here is a video about Italian food. It shows you some Italian food: pizza,wine, dessert...etc. I bet there's something you have never seen before!!

Italian pasta and Japanese pasta

Hi, everyone. I’m Natsuki from EDC3.
We read 3 books, and we already finished two books. It was really amazing!! I enjoyed reading those books especially “Evening Class”. There were a lot of characters in the book, so I sometimes confused about it. However, each character was so individual and unique because they had different backgrounds.

Now, I am going to talk about Italian pasta and Japanese pasta. In Italy, there are about 3500 different shapes of pasta. I think spaghetti, maccheroni and lasagne are famous in Japan, but others are not so famous. For example, “Puntine” do you know this? It looks like rice. The pasta suitable for salads or soups.

In Japan, there are some original tastes. For example, “Tarako pasta” and Japanese style pasta (use soy sauce, laver, pickled ume, and …..).

I also found unique pasta in Japan. Do you know the restaurant “Mountain” in Nagoya? I would like to introduce you some strange menu.
“Maccha and Azuki beans pasta” The noodle's color is green and put some fresh cream on the top.
“Strawberry pasta” The noodle's color is red. We can’t harvest strawberry all the year around, so we sometimes can’t eat the pasta.
I don’t know these strange pasta, but I want to try it.
